Researchers at the University of Delhi have conducted a study on the therapeutic potential of polyphenols in treating idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in the elderly population. The study focused on the activation of the Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and its role in inhibiting the Akt/mTORC1 pathway, which is known to drive IPF. Through molecular docking and ADMET analysis, the researchers identified baicalin and luteolin as the most promising polyphenols for suppressing mTORC1 and inducing autophagy, potentially mitigating IPF in aging individuals. This research suggests that flavonoid formulations targeting AhR activation could be considered as a therapeutic approach for IPF during biological aging. [Extracted from the article]
