The article discusses the inherent link between religious tradition and feminism. Feminism, in its many varieties, is inherently forward-looking. It calls for reform. Religious tradition must be "reformed" to accommodate the demands of feminism. Restorative feminism does not seek to break with tradition, but only to correct the abuses and distortions inflicted upon it. Feminism was born of the great bourgeois revolutions of the late eighteenth century and, in various guises, has continued to represent their radical tendency.
